HOW KJJ CAME TO BE - by Katie Jones
Like all of the greatest origin stories, KJJ happened by accident. One day I wasn't a jewelry designer, the next day I was. I was never really one for planning. I've never had an answer for that classic "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" question. There isn't a whole lot that I stress out about (which drives my dad nuts), and there aren't many things I am not willing to try (scares my dad). I bring all of this up to explain how a single project turned into my job:
I made something.
Someone saw it and said "Hey you could sell that"
I thought "Wow, that would be cool"
I sold it, and then I just kept making and selling stuff! Basically, I am way too suggestible and I like to have fun. Sometimes this gets me in trouble, but this time it all worked out, and now Im just trying to live happily ever after! I am extremely grateful to have found my passion. If you read this and feel sad because you haven't discovered your passion, keeping looking and keep being open to it. It will find you!
The "K" behind KJJ
Hello, I'm Katie! I make the jewelry. Every bit of it! A lot goes into creating jewelry, but the secret ingredient is love. If you just started barfing, go ahead and tie your hair back because there's more of that coming up next. Taking on a creative job requires a heart that is open to inspiration. Most of my inspiration comes from my loved ones, specifically, the women in my life. I am surrounded by intelligent, funny, full-hearted, beautiful women. I want the jewelry that I make for them to reflect all of that. I want my tribe, including you, to have pieces that say "Im a little wild, I am sure of who I am, and I am beautiful!". I hope to create pieces that hold memories, and tell stories.
Oh, you think that's too much to ask of a bracelet? Think about your favorite pair of earrings, or that necklace you never take off. Is it your favorite because it's pretty? Or maybe it's because it reminds you of a certain moment in your life. Maybe you think of a certain someone every time you touch that piece of jewelry.
That is My goal for KJJ. Wether you are buying for yourself or giving a gift, I want the jewelry to become a reflection of love. I hope in 10 years you reach into the pocket of your old favorite jeans, pull out one of my bracelets and have a flashback of the summer that you never took it off. I hope someday you put on a pair of my earrings, and your significant other reminds you how beautiful you looked when you wore them on yall's first date.
love,
Katie
